LEWIS' GUIDE TO RETOXING IN THE CITY. //
Lewis is 1Rebel's head of brand, and usually the one promoting retox as much as possible. We asked him where the top thirst quenchers were in the City.
Being a proud northerner, I'm genetically drawn to the northern cocktail bar. It's literally a 10 second walk from 1Rebel St Mary Axe and perfect for convenience and comfort. In addition to the smoking and bubbling cocktails it's also a great place to go for a simple pint or bottle of wine.
Usually a weekend spot for me. I love the decor and it's simplicity. Not pretentious in the slightest and great London beers. It's very chilled and I'm pretty sure they must have a policy that their playlists have to be the most sing-a-long worthy tracks of all time. I'm talking David Gray & Stereophonics singalongs...
THE SUMMER PARTY
This is somewhere that in Summer, you close your eyes and it ACTUALLY feels like you're in Ibiza. An amazing vibe, great cocktails, even better parties. It's members only so not ideal in terms of accessibility... but tap up someone who's already a member and tag along. Don't forget your arm bands.
A thorough British steak-house. You just can't beat it. Founded by two guys who initially opened it as a strip club, it's now (in my opinion) the best steak in London. The staff are very friendly and being in the City the closest branches are Commercial St. Spitalfields or Seven Dials in Bank. They've also got a few branches West, one in Manchester and one opening in NYC.
THE SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER
Another Shoreditch roof-top off Old St. Opens at 4pm and does a cracking 5pm 2-for-1 happy hour. With DJ's through the night on all floors it's a great spot to get your boogie on. This is where you'd usually find a 1Rebel staff night out...
It's American comfort food... which gives you an idea of what you're getting yourself into. You have to enter Dirty Bones knowing that there's no going half-hearted. Their vibe is awesome, they have specially mixed playlists and DJ's in the restaurant and once did a marketing campaign titled "F*** KALE"... which I love. They're currently in Soho and Kensington, but their newest, biggest restaurant will be opening in Shoreditch this Summer.
