If you love the spicy-sweet taste of tender charcoal grilled and smoked jerk cooking, refreshing Jamaican beers and rums, the easy vibe of reggae music and the laid back ambience of a fun and sassy social hangout then you are gonna love Rudie’s. They marinate the meat for at least 24hrs and only use traditional jerk drums for cooking using real coal not gas, adding carefully selected wood chips that give it the faint smoky flavour. The menu is small, focusing on quality, the servings coming on small plates, or sharer plates, similar to a tapas experience so you can pick and choose from their great range.

What to expect: Killer cocktails and some seriously delicious traditional Jamaican dishes.

When to head there: For a casual dinner, to celebrate special occasions or even on a romantic date.Fridays and Saturdays are super busy so make sure you get there early to avoid queuing.

What to wear: The vibes are chilled but you won't be out of place if you dress up for the occasion.

How to get there: The restaurant is located in Dalston. Take the overground to Dalston Junction station and it's a 10 minute walk from there.

Claire's verdict:

We had a fantastic night at Rudie's; the meal was delicious and the cocktails were on point. I would recommend Rudie’s to anyone that wants to escape the city stress for a chilled evening with a great atmosphere. A central London location would be ideal!

Saul's verdict:

Jamaican cooking with a modern twist. What more can we say. Sunshine, Spice and Rum all mixed together in one mouthful. Come to Judie's for clean flavors, punchy cocktails and a some island hospitality.
