LONDON'S TOP SUMMER DAY PARTIES. //
You'll usually see Simon Donnellon leading the Front of House team, handing you a towel and water before your session and generally bringing his cheeky charisma to the studio. When he's not at 1R, he's a professional dancer, stomping around fields and checking out the freshest day parties in London. You don't know what party MEANS until you've met Simon. He's selected the top 6 venues you should be heading to over the next few months. You're going to want to thank him next time you're in after this..
One of OFF SONAR and SPACE IBIZA’s biggest parties has gone on tour this summer. Think big name bangers and crazy dress up. Elrow goes full out with its themes and décor and its September party is Bollywood theme, what better way to end your summer than donning some glitter and dancing around a makeshift beach, you might even catch some of the 1Rebel Front Of House team running wild...
WAZE & ODYSSEY POOL PARTY @ Shoreditch House
With their summer pool parties in full swing after already hosting the likes of Sink the Pink and Jasper James (Subclub/Phonox), Shoreditch House have DJ duo Waze & Odyssey getting the rooftop moving. Its members only unfortunately but fear not, members get plus 3 guests. Don’t forget your swim shorts!
Kitsune take over the Magic Roundabout slap bang in the middle of Old Street roundabout. Think dancing to disco up some secret stairs whilst looking at the London skyline. The party also moves from day to night at Ace Hotel in Shoreditch if that takes your fancy.
A fairly new party ‘REMEMBER’ is a non profit event where all money raised goes to THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST LIVING MISERABLY, or CALM, which is a registered charity, which exists to prevent male suicide in the UK. With music from the likes of Size Doesn’t Matter and guest appearances from regular DJ’s at FUSE (London/Ibiza) and Disco Picnic (Secret Garden Party) you can expect love in vibes with but a serious party. There’s also an after party for those with particularly good disco stamina.
And you thought carnival was only at the end of August?! Brixton Beach Boulevard is hosting an all day carnival warm up party with secret guest dj’s, carnival dancers and all the jerk chicken you can eat. Previous lineups have included Craig Charles and Tessellate djs so get yourself down to the beach for an all day stomp around.
The likes of Field Day, Lovebox and Sunfall may have already kick-started your foray in to London day festivals but fear not, there’s more on the horizon. Eastern Electrics is just a short train ride from Kings Cross and boasts a massive line up with the likes of Seth Troxler, Groove Armada and Hot Since 82 all gracing the decks. Hertfordshire never looked so attractive.
Tag us in your photos if you hit up one of the parties and follow Simon on Instagram to keep up with his weekend naughtiness .
