Like the majority of people, we’ll do all we can to avoid pain. We may continue to smoke to avoid the suffering of giving up, stay in bad relationships to avoid the sadness of letting go, spend money you don’t have to avoid missing out on occasions with friends or snack on naughty treats to avoid having to choose healthier options.

Subconsciously we all make decisions based on the level of pain we may have to go through, because it’s easier, convenient and a less daunting journey to do so. Why wouldn’t we? Pain is defined by a highly unpleasant physical or emotional suffering, so of course we wouldn’t wish this upon ourselves.

"in the pursuit of happiness, we need to feel certain emotions and feelings to gain the benefits of others".

However, like many things in the pursuit of happiness, we need to feel certain emotions and feelings to gain the benefits of others. The more we experience and are exposed to painful feelings such as depression, failure, sadness and guilt, we learn to appreciate moments of joy, achievement, euphoria and happiness.

Angel is designed to reflect the journey we go on when we work out. Whether your goal is to introduce fitness into your day-to-day lives, hit a personal best or simply feel more confident in your self, you’ll need to feel the pain of making these changes in your life to be rewarded with the result of accomplishment.

"when it comes to your fitness regime the first thing you must reconcile with yourself is that – the mind is primary".

Happiness can be defined as the absence of sadness as without this comparative emotion, it has no meaning. Our ability to deal with sadness is directly correlated to our strength of character in the face of adversity. That’s why when it comes to your fitness regime the first thing you must reconcile with yourself is that – the mind is primary. Without a strong mind, we rarely have strong bodies. And at 1Rebel we want to get you physically fit, but we know that creating callouses of the mind is the gateway to achieving your goals.

There is no how-to guide showing you the easiest route to your goal, and although those moments of pain may cast doubt in your mind, you should not stop.

"Pain is not a step backwards, it is the remedy".

Use them as a reminder of what you are trying to achieve. Pain is not a step backwards, it is the remedy.

“I felt so lethargic today my legs hurt from yesterdays workout.

"I felt my mind needed the workout".

In this scenario the advice to myself and others would be rest but I was being so moany and negative, I felt my mind needed the workout. Please know that it’s okay to come into the studio to just move and go through the motions. Sure, trainers will talk about ways to push yourself, work hard and achieve personal bests but that can’t happen every single session. It’s a process.

"Today was not a day for personal bests for me....but I am so glad I did it".

Today was not a day for personal bests for me. I didn’t ‘smash it’ on the burpees and I found running on an incline tough but I am so glad I did it. I’m smiling, the music gave me life and so did the #RebelArmy around me”. - Zoe, 1Rebel Master Trainer.

You came. And you did today what others won’t, so tomorrow you can do what others can’t. Never give up Rebels.
